Postdoctoral Fellow, Seed and Developmental Biology

Phone: 1-306-966-3714

Born in North China, Xingliang has always been fascinated by the wonderful plant kingdom! He chose to study plant molecular biology in South China Agricultural University after receiving his Bachelor of Sciences degree.

As a PhD student, Xingliang constructed a set of CRISPR-Cas9 binary vectors for targeting multiple genome sites in plants. These CRISPR vectors were widely used among the plant research groups in China. Xingliang also invented the DSD (Degenerate Sequence Decoding) method for genotyping the mutations generated by CRISPR/Cas9.

Xingliang is very excited to be working at GIFS, embarking on a new research experience, and perfecting his English language skills. At GIFS, Xingliang is working to improve CRISPR techniques, and also applying CRISPR to validate several apomixis related genes.

Xingliang’s hobbies include watching movies, history, swimming, and making handmade staffs.
