Sylvia graduated with a BSc in Physiology from McGill University in 2005 and obtained an MBA in 2015. She decided to pursue a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation shortly after as she was passionate about learning project management. She received her PMP certification in 2015 and is a member of the Project Management Institute.

Sylvia has worked in research labs, a soil testing lab and in a greenhouse where she analyzed plant and soil samples.

She was the Saskatchewan Operations Manager for the Canadian Diabetes Association Clothesline program, developing fund raising and marketing strategies to promote diabetes research, education and advocacy. Since 2011 she has worked in a number of finance roles for the University of Saskatchewan (USask), ensuring compliance in financial activities with audit requirements, funding proposals, financial review and analysis, budget development supporting faculty and students to meet their academic and research goals. Prior to joining GIFS, Sylvia’s most recent role was in Teaching, Learning and Student Experience at USask (Student Finance and Awards). While there, she provided expertise in tuition forecasting, reporting and reconciliation, while working to improve processes and services for students and sponsoring agencies.
