Olufunke Okochi

Director of Stakeholder Engagement and Communications

Olufunke (‘Funke) Okochi joined GIFS in 2019. She has enjoyed a diverse and exciting career in the public and private sectors. Her experience includes corporate communications and public relations, strategic and relationship management, and operations management.

Prior to GIFS, ‘Funke was with the Government of Saskatchewan where she provided strategic communications counsel to a number of key economic functions, working to promote opportunities in Saskatchewan and build an improved quality of life for residents. She also worked at the Petroleum Technology Research Centre where she provided leadership to the organization’s communications and corporate affairs areas.

She holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos. She also obtained a Master of Arts in Justice Studies (with research focus in International Relations) and a Certificate in Public Relations – both from the University of Regina. ‘Funke has served and continues to serve on a number of community boards and committees, including the boards of the Regina Open Door Society and SaskCulture, and the RCMP ‘F’ Division Commanding Officer’s Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee (COCDAC).
