Bruce Mann

Technical Lead, Omics and Precision Agriculture Laboratory (OPAL)

Bruce joins the Global Institute for Food Security as Technical Lead in OPAL after a 28-year career at the Saskatchewan Research Council, and most recently with Lallemand Plant Care.  As Operations Supervisor in SRC’s Genomic Services department, Bruce led the group in the provision of commercial molecular services related to livestock and alternative species parentage and genetic disease and crop varietal identification.  He has worked with industry and academia in providing support to timely agricultural issues such as GMO detection in crops, Canada’s Midge Tolerant Wheat testing initiative, as well as population studies related to colony collapse disorder in North American honeybees.

Bruce brings with him a collaborative mindset geared towards maximizing potential through effective coordination and process improvement.
