NewsGIFS: At the centre of Saskatchewan's thriving agtech ecosystem

Saskatchewan’s agriculture and agri-food ecosystem is blazing trails. In addition to over 40 per cent of Canada’s arable land that feeds the world sustainably, the province is blessed with a complete value chain including researchers, growers, industry, suppliers, a thriving export industry and all stakeholders involved in moving food from farm to fork.

GIFS at the University of Saskatchewan is at the centre of this thriving ecosystem. Working with partners to discover, develop and deliver innovative solutions for the production of globally sustainable food, the institute combines research strengths and state-of-the-art technology platforms to complement the agri-food industry and advance the development of agtech for the benefit of all, including consumers.

The Province’s Ministry of Trade and Export Development met up with GIFS to learn more about Saskatchewan’s agtech strengths and what is on offer here to help the agriculture and agri-food sectors thrive.
