PRIMARY PURPOSE: You will coordinate and provide administrative support for the business development and program management activities at the Global Institute for Food Security.

NATURE OF WORK: Reporting to the Director, Business Development, you will coordinate and deliver the primary administrative support for the business development team (JARVIS) which also includes the GIFS AgTech Hub and ongoing projects, one of which is the CFREF project “Designing Crops for Global Food Security”. 

You have an ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team member, and to exercise discretionary decision making. You understand the values, culture, challenges and operational needs of GIFS.  You understand the interconnectedness of GIFS and the impact changes and operations have on all the platforms, programs, clients and overall reputation of GIFS.  You develop and maintain strong long-lasting relationships. 


  •  Lead by example.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the JARVIS office, including administrative support for the team including the Director, Business Development, space/equipment, and policies and procedures.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the GIFS AgTech Hub to ensure timely response to all portal activity, coordination of the IP advisory committee.
  • Coordinate the administration of project committees, both formal and informal, including but not limited to, the Executive Research Committee, International Scientific Advisory Committee, Industry Advisory Committee, Project Management Team, and ad-hoc working groups.
  • Work closely with the CFREF Program Manager to facilitate communication among project participants, the research community, and key stakeholders (including participating external institutions and end users).
  • Prepare and maintain operational and strategic documents and presentations.
  • Event planning including coordination of the annual CFREF Symposium.
  • Manage the implementation of programs, activities, and systems to support the JARVIS Team in fulfillment of their responsibilities.
  • Ensure that project priorities and deadlines are met, and decisions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Support the effective, efficient, and strategic allocation and management of GIFS resources (staff, financial, and physical).
  • Participates as a collaborative member of the Institute’s high-functioning administrative support team and provides back up coverage, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: An undergraduate degree with at least three years’ relevant experience.  An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.

Salary: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $49,301.00 - 77,033.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
